As seen in my old news post (post 7), I got a PSP 1001 for my birthday. And so, I wanted to expand the functions of my PSP, and so I installed Dark_Alex's 5.00 M33-4. I have a custom gameboot, instead of having a horrible original Sony gameboot. Its pretty epic, and I have a custom music player, Kurok (Turok for the PSP) and Ultimate PSP Tube (youtube for PSP), as well as 30 songs. So yeah its pretty fuckin sweet.
No, custom firmware is NOT illegal, I personally emailed Sony about it today. It does, however, void your warranty. (but I take really great care of my PSP so Im not worried)
I would also like to say that converting to custom firmware is NOT easily done, as it requires a lot of knowledge about chipboards and how to pull a pin from one. It is very confusing, but was easy for me cause I knew how to install it and pull the pin from the battery from the start.
